Yes! There is a relation between Uncle Bill’s Pancake House and Aunt Betty’s Ice Cream Shack! Aunt Betty’s was named after the O’Hara family matriarch Betty O’Hara (Uncle Bill’s wife).

Aunt Betty’s Ice Cream Shack opened its doors in the summer of 2006 on 21st Street, next to Uncle Bill’s Pancake House and behind Blitz’s Market. The building was the site of the original market on 21st street, but had been used for many years as a storage shed for the newer market that was on Asbury Avenue. The shed was transformed into a tropical ice cream shack complete with bamboo paneling and beams, a palm leaf fan, island-inspired music and a relaxed chalkboard menu. Based off of the same principles of quality food, efficient service, and a clean family-fun atmosphere, Aunt Betty’s has become a top-notch ice cream parlor and is already an Ocean City tradition serving both hard and soft-serve ice cream, Italian ice and homemade waffles, brownies and cookies.

In 2008, Aunt Betty’s 2nd location was opened at 40th Street and West Avenue in Ocean City. This location shares the building with Uncle Bill’s.

Aunt Betty’s staff and customers return year after year, a testament to our continued success. In 2010, Aunt Betty’s was named Best of the Shore in Philadelphia Magazine and New Jersey Monthly! Philadelphia Magazine again praised Aunt Betty’s in 2013 as an ice cream hot spot with “the cheeriest, fastest-serving counter girls along the whole Shore.” We are very proud to be a Jersey Shore icon and work hard to keep up our good reputation.
